New data centre will deliver more reliable satellite TV services
SATLINE has opened a new UK data centre delivering faster, more reliable satellite connectivity.
The facility is equipped with two new downlink antennas. It expands coverage and enhances performance for broadcast, internet protocol television (IPTV) and over-the-top (OTT) clients.
The site's primary purpose is to ingest and convert satellite RF signals into IP streams. This enables customers to store or originate their data and distribute it with ultra-low latency through their own networks, content delivery networks, or private connections. The goal is to improve coverage, resilience, and latency for all broadcast and IPTV workflows.
With this strategic expansion, SATLINE's satellite coverage now supports two new satellite positions: 5°W and 28.2°E. This will improve the company's regional reach while also strengthening connectivity for customers across Europe.
Data centres equipped with satellite antenna infrastructure are becoming a vital part of the modern content delivery ecosystem, ensuring fast and reliable data transmission worldwide.
The new data centre features several key technical advantages, including L2 Connectivity or Direct Layer 2 links, which provide high-speed data transfer and an infrastructure that operates with virtually zero latency. As a TIER 3 certified facility, meanwhile, the data centre guarantees uninterrupted service and ensures the security of stored data. It also has a scalable infrastructure designed for future growth and includes reserved capacity for additional satellite positions, extra server rack space, and increased bandwidth. This allows for rapid expansion to meet rising demand.
SATLINE chief executive Gleb Sazanov believes the launch of the new facility marks a significant step forward in improving service quality and performance for clients. “By opening a data centre in the United Kingdom, we're taking an important step in strengthening satellite connectivity across Europe and beyond.
“We can now offer new satellite positions and world-class infrastructure, ensuring our clients experience the lowest possible latency and dependable performance-essential in today's fast-evolving broadcasting and IPTV markets.”
